About Korea by the Numbers
Korea has some of the world's most important technology and industrial companies, but most English-language coverage of its stock market stops at the headline. Korea by the Numbers looks underneath it, using the data.
What you will find here
- Market studies. Questions about the KOSPI and KOSDAQ answered with long price histories and explicit methods: what happened after past crashes, how value-up disclosures played out, which signals held up.
- Company analysis. Korean companies read through their own filings, with the numbers that matter pulled out and checked.
- Korea explained. Rules, taxes and market mechanics that foreign investors need and rarely find in English.
Who writes it
The site is written by a Korea-based software engineer with more than ten years of experience building and leading development projects, and an individual investor who invests on the basis of company value and quantitative rules. It is independent: no sponsors, no paid placements, and no affiliation with any brokerage. The author is not a licensed financial adviser.
How the numbers are checked
- Company figures come from primary sources: DART filings, Korea Exchange data and company IR materials.
- Every number, causal claim and comparison in a draft is traced back to its source before publication. Anything that cannot be traced is removed or marked as unverified.
- Figures we calculate ourselves are labelled as calculations, with the inputs stated.
- Korean won amounts are shown with an approximate US dollar conversion and the exchange rate used.
Corrections
If a number, date or claim is wrong, it gets fixed and the article notes what changed and when. Published analysis is not silently rewritten.
